Last year I went gaga for the Dior Addict Fluid Sticks. The hybrid lippies were the perfect combination of a gloss and a lipstick, and I know I wasn’t alone in my obsession. With the Fall 2015 collection, they’ve decided to expand on this with the addition of the new Dior Addict Fluid Shadow ($36 CAD, available September 2015). Following in the footsteps of the Armani Eye Tints & other favourites, Dior has added their take on liquid shadows with this beautiful metallic range.
I’ve been playing around with these for a few weeks now and could barely wait to share the news – I wasn’t allowed to spill the beans until a few days ago – and have a review and swatches for you!
Let’s get down to the good stuff. These liquid shadows have a gorgeous, metallic appearance that’s packed full of shine and colour. One thing that really makes these stand out to me is the pigmentation. The colour is bold and strong – what you see in the tube is exactly what you get when you’ve applied on your eye – which is a major selling point for me. I’m really big on Cosmic (a stunning purple with hints of blue & burgundy throughout) & Aurora (a gorgeous, warm rose gold) because of the impact they have.
The formula is really fast drying, but I find that it can rub off a little and isn’t waterproof – I recommend starting with a primer to make sure the wear lasts. The applicator is a brush, which is one thing I’m not big on. It does make application more precise (also allowing for it to be used to line the eyes & get in close to the water line), but I like to use a blending brush or sponge to blend the colour in a bit more so the edges aren’t quite as sharp – and I’m going to go ahead and say that finger application has worked out the best so far for me. I am going to recommend against applying with your fingers, as you aren’t going to get the same colour payoff and might end up a little disappointed with the look.
What do you think of the Dior Addict Fluid Shadow? Will you be trying these when they launch in September?
