Cocoon Apothecary

Cocoon Apothecary

I love being introduced to local companies and products, and was really excited when I heard about Cocoon Apothecary – even more so when I learned that the line is organic, eco-friendly and cruelty free (a big plus!).  The line, started by Kitchener local Jessica Burman, was created to bring skincare back to basics.  Burman  knows the importance of being careful about what you put on your skin, saying, “Our skin is our largest organ; what we put on and in it matters a lot.  True beauty is healthy skin and I don’t add any cream or serum to my collection until it’s absolutely perfect.”

Cocoon Aphtecary Skin Care Starter Kit

I’ve had a chance to try 2 products from the collection – the Ancient Mud Facial Mask and the Cocoon Apothecary Skin Care Starter Kit.  The Starter Kit is comprised of 3 minis (20 ml bottles) – the Petal Purity Facial Cleanser, Rose Dew Facial Toner and the Rosey Cheeks Facial Cream.  Together, they work hard to restore the skin’s natural balance for a perfect healthy glow.  The cleanser comes in the form of a cleansing milk which is applied to dry skin, massaged in and rinsed off.  I really like the lightweight feel of this – it gave a very gentle cleanse which I think would be perfect for someone with sensitive or dry skin.  The nice thing is it doesn’t remove the skin’s natural oils so that you don’t have to worry about overdrying.  It does have a light, rose scent which is natural and comes from the ingredients used.  The toner is also lightweight – I really like that it comes in a spray format, so you can choose to spritz it directly on the skin.  It’s refreshing but I did find that it has a bit of a stronger scent than the cleanser.  The Rosey Cheeks Facial Cream is really nice.  I found that it is light enough that I can wear it during the summer while providing a great level of moisture.

Moving on to the Ancient Mud Facial Mask – I fell in love with this clay mask the first time I used it.  It’s rich and feels like a spa treatment.  Once applied, I could feel a little tingle in my skin that made me feel like it was immediately going to work.  I also really like the light, gritty texture it has – it helped to exfoliate the skin as I rubbed it in a little while I rinsed.   I love using this as my skin is left feeling fresh and clean afterwards, and it is such a nice treat when I want to relax a little.
