You would think my boyfriend would learn by now that he should keep a defibrillator on hand whenever the latest Dior collection comes in, but he just doesn’t understand yet. The new Dior Mystic Metallics collection for Fall 2013 showed up last week and as usual, I had a minor heart attack when I got my first look. Based on this and the other fall collections I’ve seen so far, this season is going to be all about the eyes, with bold jewel tones, smoky looks and lots of shimmery metallics. I have most of the collection for you to take a look at – photos and swatches below!
“The colour harmonies that I have created for this look reflect the mysterious colours of the galaxy. Like a journey from the earth to the moon.” – Tyen, Dior Makeup Creative Director
Diorshow Fusion Mono Eyeshadow ($31) – When I swatched these, my breath was taken away. With a gel-mousse texture (so light and creamy) and beautiful, shimmering colour, these shadows apply like a dream. I was blown away by how beautiful these are once applied. The colour seems to be multi-dimensional depending on which way you look at it, with several tones coming together for a gorgeous, dramatic result. There are two application techniques which can used depending on your desired look – with the fingers for a lighter, subtly shimmery look or with the included smudging applicator for more extreme colour. These shadows can also be applied wet for a more extreme metallic look. Also available but not pictured: Etoile (silver with the glittering sparkle of stardust), Meteore (a flamboyant and passionately sensual amber) and Chimere (the charm of opaline pink).
Dior 5 Couleurs Eyeshadow Palette Star Edition ($61, Limited Edition): Oh guys, this palette.. I almost cried when I had to swatch it. Decorated with stars (fun fact: Monsieur Dior’s lucky charm was a metallic star pierced with a hole – he found it the day before he started his House and it is the inspiration for this palette) and featuring shimmery, metallic shades, this palette is definitely the centrepiece of the Dior Mystic Metallics collection. The beautiful blue-greens and browns included in this palette create a beautiful ethereal look with a hint of mystery. The Bonne Etoile palette will not be available at Sephora. This palette also comes in Constellation, which features purples and taupes.
Dior Addict Extreme Lipstick in Gri Gri ($32, Limited Edition – this shade not available at Sephora) – This nude lipstick has a hint of a rosy colour for the perfect bare lip look to go with dramatic eyes. As usual, this lipstick is very moisturizing and smooth. I love my Dior Addict Extreme lipsticks, and this will join my collection perfectly. Also available in the shades Fortune and Bonne Aventure (both will be available at Sephora).
Dior Addict Gloss in Charm ($31, Limited Edition – this shade not available at Sephora) – This nude gloss is highly pigmentedand has great shine. I really love the brush applicator that comes with these glosses – I find it allows for precise and even application. I love the colour of this gloss – it gives your lips just a hint of colour and the shine is beautiful. Not sticky, and very long lasting. Also available in the shades Merveille and Ensorcelante (both will be available at Sephora).
Dior Vernis in Mystic Magnetic ($27, Limited Edition – Not available at Sephora) and Galaxie ($25, Limited Edition) – This season, the Dior Mystic Metallics collection is featuring dramatic, galaxy inspired nail shades. First up, the Mystic Magnetic polish – a shadowy blue polish that comes with a magnet which can be used to create beautiful designs – when held over the nail, the polish reacts to the magnet and forms different patterns. Dior Vernis in Galaxie is a seriously sexy plum metallic with a hint of shimmer that I really can’t wait to show off. This will also be available in the shade Destin (silvery pink).
One more addition to this collection will be the Diorshow Blackout Mascara, with a new tube, XL brush and the power of black kohl.
What do you think of the Dior Mystic Metallics collection?
