Lustworthy lipsticks are my absolute weakness. When I learned that Dior would be celebrating their 60th anniversary with a reinvention of the classic Rouge Dior lipstick I was ecstatic. A good lipstick can totally make your lip, and these have become some of my favourites.
“At 30, Avenue Montaigne, the first Rouge Dior was born. It was a concentrate of pure colour, whose shades were inspired by the Couturier’s fabrics – the perfect lipstick. Women had waited for it for so long it was an overnight success. Catapulted into the realms of style, Rouge Dior became the emblem of Dior make-up. An absolute must-have, it has existed in over 1500 shades since 1953.”
I personally love the elegant packaging of these lipsticks. Simple but chic, with navy casing and a silver canework motif (and of course the signature CD), it makes a statement and I absolutely love pulling it out of my purse to reapply. The formula is perfect – smooth and creamy, it glides on like a dream. Rock samphire extract helps to smooth the lips for flawless application, while spheres of hyaluronic acid help the lips to appear fuller.
With 32 new shades available in 4 colour ranges (reds, pinks, beiges and corals), finding one that matches your skin tone and mood is an easy feat. “Pinks are tinged with happiness, reds provide and expression of elegance, beiges are as luxurious as cashmere, and corals hide in the shade of the sun,” explains Tyen, Dior Makeup Creative Director. There are 4 main shades available that act as the stars of each of the colour ranges – Trafalgar, Grege 1947, Darling and 999 (a tribute to Christian Dior’s first lipstick, 9). If you’re a fan of matching your lips and tips, you may also want to check out the coordinating Dior Vernis that Dior has created to accompany these shades – Trafalgar, Nuit 1947, Darling and 999. I have swatched all four Rouge Dior and Dior Vernis below for you to take a look.
What are your thoughts on these shades? Have you ever tried a Rouge Dior lipstick?
