I’m sure by now just about every fashion and beauty lover has heard that the colour of the year for 2014 is radiant orchid – a colour that, according to Pantone (the colour authority) “blooms with confidence and magical warmth that intrigues the eye and sparks the imagination.” I’m personally excited about this being the colour of the year. This beautiful combination of fuchsia, purple and pink is passionate and warm, and especially appropriate as we look forward to spring. Of course, we can’t have a colour of the year without an appropriate collection from Sephora (this will be the third year they have collaborated with PANTONE to create one). I’ve gotten a few items from the upcoming Sephora + PANTONE Universe Radiant Orchid Collection to share with you.
Sephora + PANTONE Universe Color Gaze Brush Set ($82) – This 6 piece, radiant orchid-toned synthetic brush set comes housed in a beautiful pebbled vegan leather standing case for easy organization and travel. The bristles are extremely soft while still bring stiff enough for perfect application. This set contains a lip brush, shadow brush, crease brush, all-over shadow brush, angled blush brush and a stippling brush, easily covering the essentials in one kit.
Sephora + PANTONE Universe Rush Luster Cheek Sweep ($21) – this cheek trio has really nailed the colour of the year. With 2 powder luminizers in rose gold and champagne shades and a Radiant Orchid toned powder blush, a warm look is easy to achieve. All three are really pigmented – especially the radiant orchid shade with its bright colour, so I suggest starting off light to avoid a Mimi a la Drew Carey look. The luminizers are gorgeous and are perfect for adding more of a glow to your face.
Sephora + PANTONE Universe Venus Lure Lip Balm ($19) – Although similar looking, this is not to be confused with the Radiant Rush Matte Lipstick, which is packed with bold, pigmented colour. This lip balm takes the nourishing qualities of orchid essence, hyaluronic acid and collagen and combines them for a formula that is softening and smoothing. It has the tiniest hint of pink colour, but really is all about enhancing the look and feel of the lips with a bit of shine and lots of hydration. I also noticed a bit of a cooling sensation when it was applied which was extremely refreshing.
