By now I’m sure you’ve realized that Dior products make my heart skip a beat – especially when they come from spring/summer collections, which are hands down my favourite. Don’t get me wrong, I love fall/winter collections as well, but there is just something that makes me so happy about the playful colours and feel that comes with those that debut this time of year. The Dior Transat Collection for Summer 2014 perfectly fulfilled all my expectations of what a warm weather collection should be. Perfectly nautical, this collection takes inspiration from Dior’s first Resort & Spring line in 1948. Cruise elegance and the fresh feel of the water shine through in every item, bringing shades of navy blue, primary red and sandy beige to the forefront. Read on to learn more about the products and shades in this collection and to see swatches!
Diorskin Nude Tan Prime & Bronze ($42 CAD) – Dior decided to take their primers to the next level with this multi-tasking prep product. While it primes the skin for makeup application it also gives off a more radiant and glowing look. An immediate bronzed look is given with a tan tint that deepens the skin tone while self-tanning properties help a sun-kissed glow to develop. It is suggested that this product is used every day for a week to allow for a healthy (and safe) tan.
Diorskin Nude Shimmer in Amber & Pink ($57 CAD each, not available at Holt Renfrew) – Of course radiant, healthy skin is one of the most sought-after looks when the summer season rolls around, and these new Diorskin Nude Shimmer compacts make getting this look extremely easy. Available in two shades to help compliment your skin tone, these compacts help to highlight and contour the face with an easy swipe of the included kabuki brush. With a sheer but warm feel and a subtle hint of shimmer, these are the perfect companion to a fresh face.
Dior 5 Couleurs Transat Edition in Sundeck & Atlantique ($62 CAD each, Not Available at Holt Renfrew) – One of my favourite parts of every single Dior collection has got to be the new 5 Couleurs palettes. Never one to disappoint, Dior releases perfectly on-point colour palettes in stunning shades and this collection is no different. Upon first glance the Atlantique palette took my breath away. If there’s one thing I’ve learned from my experiences with Dior it’s that they know blue shadow. Both of these capture the essence of the entire collection, with sun-kissed shades and ocean blues. I really do like both of these but I find that some shades in the Sundeck palette are a little too sheer for my liking; that being said, some of the bolder & brighter colours do come together nicely. The Atlantique palette is much more my speed – the shades are stunning and so perfect for summer.
Diorshow Iconic Overcurl Waterproof Mascara ($35 CAD) – Last year I fell head over heels in love with a new addition to the Dior mascara family – Diorshow Iconic Overcurl. This summer lashes can be bathed in this amazing lengthening & curling mascara without having to worry about it straying during a day at the beach with its new waterproof formula.
Dior Manucure Transat in Yacht, Sailor & Captain ($31 each, Not Available at Holt Renfrew) – Another line that has a special place in my heart is the Dior Vernis. Between the amazing formula, fantastic brush and beautiful results, these polishes have quickly become some of my favourites. I love the new, perfectly-fitting shades from this collection: the sandy Yacht, ultramarine Sailor and bold Captain are so nautical and pigmented. Sailor is a must-have from this collection – the punchy shade is so luminescent and has the tiniest hint of shimmer to make it stand out. Each of these shades also comes with a CD stamped transparent sticker kit. These can be applied over top of the shades to add a little luxury to any mani. I’m going to tell you right now that I wanted to love these stickers, I really did. I just found that I had trouble applying these perfectly to the nail – no matter what I did, I always seemed to get ripples throughout the sticker. Maybe with some more practice I can get it right but at the moment they just aren’t working for me.
Dior Addict Lipstick in Cruise & Mayday ($33 CAD each, Not Available at Holt Renfrew) – A fun pop of colour on the lips is the perfect match for a sun-kissed face. Available in two shades – sultry crimson (Mayday) and mandarin orange (Cruise) – for a soft, moisturized lip with personality. I’m drooling over Mayday. It’s got so much personality (is it weird that I’m giving that characteristic to a lipstick) and is such a brilliant shade.
Dior Addict Gloss in Seafarer & Offshore ($31 CAD each, Not Available at Holt Renfrew) – Of course, no summer collection would be complete without some pretty, shiny gloss. Both shades are stunners – one with tons of pigmentation and shine (the poppy-hued Seafarer) and the other with a neutral tone but lots of sparkle (the golden sand shade Offshore). Both provided maximum shine while hydrating the lips for a big impact.
Dior Addict Lip Maximizer in Fresh Pink ($33 CAD, Not Available at Holt Renfrew) – Last but not least, we have a new version of Dior Lip Maximizer, this time in a pretty, pale pink. The colour is sheer and neutral, but gives lips a healthy glow. It also gives a bit of a tingle when worn as it “plumps” the pout.
The Dior Transat Collection for Summer 2014 will be available at Dior counters nationwide and thebay.com starting May 1st, 2014. Will you be checking out any items from this collection?
