We all have our hair issues and needs. Whether it be damage, colour, volume or curls that need to be taken care of, we all need a little TLC for our locks once in a while and no one knows that better than Matrix. Their Biolage collection has been a big hit for years, with different lines focusing on several hair needs, and this year they decided to take it to the next level by reinventing the brand.
The four lines (ColorLast for colour treated hair, HydraSource for dry hair, SmoothProof for frizzy hair & VolumeBloom for fine hair) have taken on a whole new look with new ingredients to make them even better than ever. The smell is the same and they still provide great results for the hair, but they now do so in a way that taps into the amazing powers of various natural ingredients like cotton, aloe, camelia and orchid, while using greener, more convenient bottles to enrich your experience.
Now for the exciting part – Matrix has asked me to become one of their Biolage ambassadors and the “face” of the ColorLast line. I’m sure you’ve noticed that I like to rock a bold shade of red (now even better thanks to the new Matrix High Intensity Reds, but more on that to come in a later post), and as a faux-redhead I know all to well how hard it can be to make sure that your colour lasts. Since I’ve started using the complete Biolage ColorLast line (consisting of a shampoo, conditioner, mask & shine shake) I’m extremely happy to report that my colour is lasting longer than ever. My colour is usually very prone to fading, but since dying it about 4 weeks ago I’ve noticed very little fading all the way throughout. My ends have a tendency to fade especially quickly, but they’re still rocking the same bold shade as my roots. My verdict? This stuff works and does an amazing job of helping to prolong the life of colour.
A little while back, myself and the other 3 Biolage Ambassadors Elaine (SmoothProof), Nicole (HydraSource) & Iva (VolumeBloom) were invited to the Four Seasons in Yorkville and the L’Oreal Academy to learn more about the line and to enjoy a day inspired by the new Biolage!
Our first experience was inspired by cotton and the VolumeBloom range – we got cozied up in fluffy cotton robes before being treated to a relaxing massage. Cotton, with its ability to expand, is perfect for fluffing up fine hair!
Up next was a treatment inspired by “my” line, ColorLast. Playing off the orchid and its colour-enhancing properties, we received luxurious (and colourful) manis – I even happened to choose a shade that wasn’t too far off from orchid!
After that, we enjoyed lunch with refreshing HydraSource-inspired mocktails created with Aloe, nature’s perfect moisturizer. This amazing ingredient helps the hair to retain hydration, so it keeps up to 15x more than usual.
Our next experience was a fun one. Inspired by the enduring camelia flower and the SmoothProof line, we were able to create our own signature fragrances with Aromachology. This line is great for anyone who deals with frizz. The camelia flower helps to block humidity for great control and smoothness!
Finally, we were able to give the new Matrix Peli-cure treatment a try. This treatment is a great, quick and inexpensive add-on (only $5 with other services) to any Matrix salon visit! It combines their new Carbonizing Powder with their intensely nourishing hair masks for a treatment that helps to penetrate the shaft for hair that is more manageable, soft and shiny.
I had an amazing time learning about the new Biolage products and will definitely be sharing more information in the next few months – and if you’re really good, I just might have a giveaway up my sleeve too! Have you ever tried any Biolage products? Will you be giving the new ones a try?
