Earlier this week, Suzanne Rogers presented famed designer Zac Posen in his first ever Canadian runway show. The fundraiser, which raised over $800,000 in support of Boost Child Abuse Prevention and Intervention Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital, showcased Posen’s beautiful couture gowns. The breathtaking designs were showstoppers, with a stunning old-Hollywood glamour feel and amazing structure.

I had a chance to head backstage before the show to check out the hair look created by Moroccanoil’s Artistic Director Antonio Corral Calero and the beauty look created by MAC Cosmetics Senior Artist Melissa Gibson. Both looks combined for a feel that is extremely elegant and feminine a la Veronica Lake. I even got to sneak a peek of Toronto-born model Coco Rocha gettin prepped backstage before she took to the runway. Anyways, I wanted to share these looks with you – I think they’re stunning and can easily be transferred to the real world!

Hair by Antonio Corral Calero for Moroccanoil:
Calero wanted to create a style that was very va-va-voom while still maintaining a modern, wearable feel, mainly inspired by 1940’s star Veronica Lake.
“I started by prepping dry hair with Moroccanoil Light throughout the mid-lengths of hair followed by Moroccanoil Hydrating Styling Cream to keep hair hydrated and improve elasticity. I saturated the hair with Moroccanoil Root Boost, from roots to ends. Next, I blow-dried the hair using my fingertips to lift pieces and create volume. I then created a deep left side part using the arch of the eyebrow as a guideline to determine the depth of the part. Using a 1 ¼ inch curling iron, I set all strands of the hair (on the base of the iron), taking horizontal sections. Then, spraying each section with Moroccanoil Luminous Hairspray Strong I curled pieces toward the face, and pinned in place to cool, “brick-laying the sections at the back of the head. I brushed out the curls to create a softer look using the Moroccanoil Boar Bristle Classic Brush moving behind the ears and forming a more defined wave on the heavier side of the hair part. I finished with a spray of Moroccanoil Luminous Hairspray Strong to keep strands in place.”

The makeup continued the feeling of feminine elegance with a focus on smoky eyes and an eye-catching lip. The skin was left fresh an luminescent with moisturiser with a hint of colour in it and a bit of setting powder. The eyes were giving a classic, smoky look with a bit of a greasy feel to them to modernize it, which resulted in a muddy, yet glamorous finish. The look was completed with a bright red/coral pop of colour applied to the lips.
