This summer, Revlon decided to bring the tropics up north with the Rio Rush Collection, created by Revlon Global Artistic Director Gucci Westman. Inspired by the beautiful city of Rio de Janeiro and Carnaval, the collection is bright and full of bold, punchy shades to help create a look that fully embodies the vibrancy of the amazing carnival.
“I pictured a provocative Brazilian woman, full of life and fun,” says Westman, “She is bold yet sensual; fierce with a touch of glamour.”
I’ve got most of the collection for you to take a look at, save for 2 polishes and an eyeshadow palette. Take a look and let me know what you think!
Revlon Colorstay 16 Hour Eye Shade in Exotic ($12.95, also available in Wild) – Holy colour, Batman. This is one of the bolder shadow palettes I’ve come across this summer and it’s a whole lot of fun. I’m not typically one to try shades like yellow, but the look Revlon created on ambassador Olivia Wilde is so stunning that I just might have to try to recreate it. The purple and yellow shades are extremely well pigmented and apply very smoothly, but I found that the pearly and black shades had more of a chalky texture and didn’t apply as well, which might make for a little difficulty blending.
Revlon ColorStay Creme Gel Eyeliner in Rio Blue ($10.95) – I’m sure you’ve noticed by now that I’m a fan of gel liners. This gel liner, complete with a built-in brush is a lovely midnight blue with a hint of shimmer I wish it applied a little bit darker (it almost came out a little streaky), but once applied properly it lasts and lasts. It really does have excellent staying power and I needed makeup remover to take it off at the end of the day.
Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Carnival Spirit, Sultry Samba & Brazilian Tan ($9.50 ea) – Three shades, three finishes. This collection brings out the limited edition shades Brazilian Tan (creme finish), Sultry Samba (matte finish) and Carnival Spirit (shine finish) to make it easy to find the style that you like. I’m personally dying over Sultry Samba. This pink shade is so fresh and vibrant for the summer and fits right in the with Carnaval vibe. Brazilian Tan is a nice shade although perhaps a little dark for my skin tone – I feel like it would be better suited to someone with a darker complexion than mine. Carnival Spirit has a ton of shine but not so much colour – I feel like it works as more of a gloss balm than a lipstick.
Revlon Nail Enamel in Gold Goddess & Oi Beautiful ($5.95 ea, also available in Carioca Crush & Copa Sunset) – Ooh my, aren’t these lovely? I’ve been particularly drawn in by the glittering goodness that is Gold Goddess (couldn’t help myself. The warm golden flecks spread throughout this polish a plentiful and give nails a beautiful hint of shimmer. Oi Beautiful, on the other hand, is a gorgeous, opaque plummy shade that is seriously packing heat.
What do you think of the Revlon Rio Rush Collection? Just a quick note – this collection is limited edition, so I suggest grabbing any items you want now before they disappear!
