This month will see the launch of the Dior Timeless Colour Icons Pre-Fall 2014 Collection. Their first ever pre-fall collection, available exclusively at Holt Renfrew in Canada and Nordstrom in the US, was inspired by the pre-fall fashion collection and features a sophisticated collection of shades. This mini collection definitely has some must-have pieces and I’m in love with (almost) all of it. And yes, I’m extremely excited by the thought of an extra collection… Though do I really need an excuse for more Dior? Read on to take a look at the items from the collection and to see swatches.
Dior Vernis in Reflects, Night Shock & Tout Paris ($26 CAD ea): Dior Vernis is right up there at the top of my favourite polishes list. Between the fab rounded tip brush that makes application so easy, the killer, fast-drying formula and the gorgeous shades, they’re enough to make me swoon. Natch, these three new shades are going to fit just perfectly into my collection. Reflects is a gorgeous white-gold toned micro shimmer. On it’s on it gives off a nice, frosty look but adds a ton of dimension to other polishes. Night Shock has a killer inky, charcoal tone to it with silvery micro-shimmer dispersed throughout. And of course, no one does reds like Dior. Tout Paris is no exception. It’s bold, it’s extremely pigmented and opaque (you can easily get away with one coat) and a shade that I’ve come to expect from Dior.
Dior 3-Couleurs Smoky Eyeshadow in Smoky Gold ($50 CAD): This is such a pretty and simple palette. Featuring two gorgeous gold-toned shadows (one for a more soft look and the other to up the glam factor) and a base shade, I couldn’t wait to dig in. With an interesting pop-up case (it took me a minute to figure out how to open it), these two shades work beautifully both on their on or together, with the base helping to extend their life and making a minor change to the way they look.
Diorshow Art Pen in Bleu Croisiere ($32 CAD): This is the one item in the pre-fall collection that just didn’t do it for me. While yes, it does apply nicely, the colour just didn’t have that “it factor” for me. The blue shade is just a little too muted and almost watered down for my liking. I prefer a liner that has a bit more impact.
Dior Rouge Dior in Tout Paris & La Vie ($36 CAD ea): Much like the Dior Vernis, the Rouge Dior lipsticks are among my favourite lippies. They’ve got big colour, lots of shine and absolutely kill it in the moisture department. The creamy formula glides onto the lips, leaving them with such a bright pop of colour that I’m obsessed with. Tout Paris, which perfectly matches the polish of the same name, is a bold red with a bit of an orange feel to it, while La Vie is the most amazing fuchsia – it may be part of the pre-fall collection but I think this might be one you will want to lip into your bag for the summer when it comes out.
Dior Fusion Mono Eyehsadow in Reveuse & Trompe L’Oeil ($32 CAD ea): I’ve had a slight obsession with these soft, bouncy shadows since they first debuted last year and I’m happy to see that I have yet to be disappointed by them. These two new shades are really quite lovely, with Reveuse making me gasp when I first saw it. This blue shadow is everything. It’s got a really interesting multi-dimensional feel to it (I tried to capture it but it was tough… Take my advice and check it out in person) and moves between cobalt and navy. The silvery Trompe L’Oeil is extremely pigmented and work amazingly as a highlighter or to give any look a little boost.
Dior Nail Artistry Box ($60 CAD): As a Dior Vernis lover, I let out a little squeal when I saw this kit. Designed to help nail the perfect Dior mani, this box comes with a mini bottle of Dior Vernis in Chrome (see swatch above), a full size bottle of Dior Gel Coat (the best), a sheet of Swarovski Elements Crystal rhinestones, 2 Dior stencil sheets, a set of tweezers and a booklet with tips for the manicure. I haven’t given it a try yet but can’t wait to create my very own Dior mani!
What do you think of the Dior Timeless Colour Icons Pre-Fall 2014 Collection? Any standouts?
