I remember the first time I saw Pulp Fiction a few years back. I was already a fan of Tarantino’s movies and somehow hadn’t managed to see the cult classic yet. I fell in love with its dark humor, dialogue and, of course, Uma Thurman starring as Mrs. Mia Wallace. I’ve since watched it again several times, but hadn’t realized that the 20th anniversary of the movie was already here. The team at Urban Decay seems to be pretty big fans of the movie as well, and took the chance to create a collection inspired by Uma Thurman’s character. The Urban Decay Pulp Fiction Collection (limited edition) started out as a lipstick and nail polish but grew (thank you UD!) into a full collection, complete with a 5 shade eyeshadow palette, lip pencil and glitter liner. Take a look at the collection and let me know what you think!
The Urban Decay Pulp Fiction Eyeshadow Palette ($40 CAD) was designed to help achieve the dark look Mrs. Mia Wallace wear in the film. Full of neutral shades and a bit of smoke, this look is edgy and sexy while not being too over the top. This palette contains 5 shades: Righteous (light cream matte), Tyranny (warm brown matte), Vengeance (deep taupe-brown matte-satin), Furious (white satin) & Anger (black satin with slight tonal sparkle), all of which are deeply pigmented with a soft texture. This palette also includes a double-ended brush and instructions for recreating Mia’s look (let me know if you would like to see a recreation!).
Inspired by the deep red polish Mia wears in the film, the Mrs. Mia Wallace Nail Color ($18 CAD) is a shimmery, blood-red shade that is sure to bring out your inner badass. Although I’m not a huge fan of the brush (it’s quite long and thin compared to what I’m used to), this polish applied really nicely and went to full opacity in 2 coats. The shimmer is slight and helps to boost this gorgeous, seductive polish. And the bottle is fantastic – did you notice the skull hanging out on top of the lid? Fab.
To complete their take on Mia’s look, Urban Decay created the Mrs. Mia Wallace Revolution Lipstick ($26 CAD) and Mrs. Mia Wallace 24/7 Glide-On Lip Pencil ($24 CAD). This perfect pair comes in complementary shades of deep, sultry red. The lipstick is packed with colour (thanks to the Pigment Infusion System) and provides a creamy finish with a bit of shine. The pencil is the perfect pal for this, with a waterproof formula that prevents feathering and bleeding and acts as the perfect primer for colour that lasts all day long.
Finally, Urban Decay decided to throw another item into the collection. While Mia did not rock sparkly glitter liner in the movie, the UD team thought that this Gunmetal Heavy Metal Glitter Eyeliner ($23 CAD) would have found it’s way into her makeup bag. This paraben-free liner contains black and silver glitter for a rocking look. It looks awesome, though I feel like it would work better over a dark shadow or liner.
There you have it – the Urban Decay Pulp Fiction Collection. Have you seen Pulp Fiction? How well do you think this collection captures Mrs. Mia Wallace’s look?
