Alright ladies, bear with me – we’re about to delve into shark week territory once again. This time, however, we’re going to move on to another form of protection. I’m talking about pads. I was approached by Stayfree to try the Stayfree Challenge. You know those commercials where they pour the blue liquid onto pads to see how well they absorb and prevent leakage? Yup, that’s the Stayfree Challenge in a nutshell. To be honest, I wasn’t expecting any crazy, mind-blowing results but… Well, I’ll let this “experiment” speak for itself.
I started off with three different pads – The Stayfree Ultra Thin Pad and those of two competitors. These were the pads that I would be testing to see how well they absorbed the liquid.
Here comes the fun part – 5 mls of blue liquid was poured onto each of the pads.
Next, 5 lb weights were placed on top of blotting papers on each of the pads.
Finally, the blotting papers were removed. I was actually pretty amazed by my findings here. The Stayfree pads definitely outperformed the others; I was pretty amazed to see that there was barely any transfer once the blotting papers were removed. Pretty impressive, I must say, especially when you consider that the second competitor basically provided zero absorbency – I mean really, you wouldn’t get very far wearing this without having a major accident. I have to say, this test was a bit of an eye opener – I don’t think I ever realized how big of a difference there was between different pads and brands. Seeing these results definitely sold me on the Stayfree Ultra Thins – not to mention the fact that they aren’t bulky and are actually comfortable to wear (did anyone ever think that would be said about a pad?).
