Well, November is finally here. It hit me how quickly winter is approaching when I realized it was completely dark outside as I sat on the GO Train on my way home from work yesterday evening. Just after 5:00. 5:00! And it’s only going to get worse from here on out. If you’re anything like me, the cooler weather and shorter days put you in a rut. I’m tired, I feel more stressed out and I’m starting to get a little cranky. And let me tell you, the combination of these definitely starts to take its’ toll on my skin, as I notice it becoming more finnicky, with random breakouts, dullness and dryness creeping up on me. I think I’m due for a little relaxation, and my skin sure could use a boost.
The Miraj Hammam Spa by Caudalie, located in downtown Toronto’s Shangri-La Hotel, prides itself on providing therapeutic treatments while throwing spa-goers into a unique cultural experience. While it focuses on the benefits of communal hammam group water therapy, it also provides private treatments to suit the needs of clients. This season, the spa has added a new treatment to its already impressive roster – the Oxygen Facial.
This unique facial treatment was designed based on the fact that the oxygen that skin needs is often blocked out by damage due to the free radicals it comes into contact to – think pollution, smoke and the sun – all nasty stuff that builds up and prevents our skin from being its healthiest. The Oxygen Facial helps to combat this by bringing necessary moisture back to the skin. How does it do this? A fine mist is infused into the skin through an ampoule to deliver moisture to the epidermis.
I haven’t had a chance to try this new facial offering out yet, but I have a feeling I’m going to be giving it a try in the next little while to give my skin a boost in the dreary coming months. As a result of increased cell turnover, skin becomes more radiant, while collagen and elastin are boosted. Oh, and did I mention that it helps to reduce acneic breakouts? Acne sufferers, take note.
