Try as hard as we might, our hair is going to suffer from various forms of damage. Between heat styling, colouring & environmental factors, our hair tends to take quite the beating – ahh, the price of beauty. While yes, there are many things we can do to prevent this damage from occurring in the first place, let’s face it – we’re going to see some forms of damage. Once this has happened, we find ourselves left with split ends, dullness and strands that are prone to breakage. At this point, it’s impossible to completely reverse the damage, but there are definitely products out there that can help to bring our hair back to a healthier state.
The Aveeno Positively Nourishing Hair Care Collection was designed to combine nature and science for a line of products that helps to restore damaged hair to a state that is full of life and vibrancy. It even claims that it can start to make an impact in just three washes with noticeable results. The line’s effectiveness comes from the newest Aveeno Active Naturals technology, the Nourishing Wheat Complex (which contains a blend of Wheat Germ Oil and Wheat Protein), which helps to target & repair the weakest parts of hair. The line contains several products which aim to repair air from different areas depending on the user’s needs.
I’ve had a chance to try out the Moisturize Shampoo and Conditioner, which was designed to moisturize dry, damaged hair. First of all, let me start off by saying that these smell fantastic, which is a big check in the list of things I look for in a shampoo/conditioner duo – they just have to smell great since the smell is going to last after. The shampoo also lathers really well, and a little goes a long way. After using these products (which are safe for colour treated hair – thumbs up!), I can say that my hair does feel noticeably softer and stronger. My hair does go through colouring quite often due to the quick fade time of my red, and it definitely takes its toll. I find quite a bit of breakage, and this has been happening less frequently since I started using the line. I also had a friend who has hair that is much more damaged try this out, and she (very happily) found similar results. She said that she definitely felt a bit of a change in her hair texture and the amount of breakage that she normally experiences.
These two products have done well so far to provide results, and I’m really interested in seeing what the long term effects of usage will be – I’ve got my friend continuing to use this and given the state of her damage prior to usage, I’m especially interested in seeing how this affects her.
