Backing It Up | Ling’s Backup Beauty Products (Guest Post From The Cosmetic Critic)

Hi guys!  I’m taking a week off from life to unplug and hang out in Orlando.  This week is going to be all about relaxing and having a little fun – and yes, I’m definitely going to be checking out Disney World (OMG, Disney princesses…) and Universal Studios (HARRY POTTER LAND).  Anyways, since I’m taking this time to regroup, I’ve enlisted the help of some of my fellow Canadian Beauty Bloggers to bring some amazing content my way.  Today’s post comes from Ling Chiu of The Cosmetic Critic.  Make sure you give her a follow below to check out some more amazing content from her 🙂

Hi! My name’s Ling and I blog over at The Cosmetic Critic. Thanks Dee for having me guest post and hopefully you’re having fun away 🙂

As all beauty junkies know, it’s really hard to finish beauty products, and rather rare concerning makeup. Having a backup of something is usually an indication of something well loved, enough so that we spend our limited funds on products that we might not even get to open.

Well, that’s the case for most people. I’m not like most people since I’m (supposed to be) on a budget, thus I own products that I don’t necessarily want backups of, though some of them are items that I do genuinely like.

A lot of people rave about the Rimmel Stay Matte Powder, but honestly I don’t get the hype. Yeah, it’s a nice drugstore powder but it’s really not that exceptional. I do have a backup but only because it was on sale and I thought it would be worthwhile to go buy another (even though I rarely hit pan on powders…).

Another powder that I have a backup of is the e.l.f. Essential Clarifying Powder. It’s not that great honestly since it’s kind of chalky, but it makes up for it through it’s strong pigmentation. My sister bought these but I don’t understand why since they’re several shades too light for her. As a result, I now possess them since they are a much better shade match on me.

She also gifted me 2 deluxe samples of the Elisa Coy Always Nuddy CC Cream (of which I already had one of). While I haven’t been using it much lately, it’s still a nice product that I’m attempting to use more now.

I love The Face Shop’s Design My Eyebrow pencil since it’s such a good match for my brows. So much so that I purposely purchased another since I knew I would finish the one that I’m currently using (and likely to finish soon).

Lip balms are one of the few types of products that actually make sense for me to repurchase since I go through them so quickly. My top picks are Nivea and eos lip balms, so I always have them on hand. I’m not really a fan of Softlips since it’s of the methanol variety, but they are life savers when I have uncomfortable lips.
What products do you own back ups of?
