It feels like it’s taken a while to warm up, but summer is almost here! The weather has been a bit like a rollercoaster in Toronto the past few weeks, jumping between beautiful sunny days to those that are a bit rainy and chilly, but I’m pretty optimistic at this point that the summer days I’ve been longing for are just about here and ready to stick around for a while. So what do summer days mean for me? Time spent lounging by the pool, hanging out at the beach with friends and jamming to killer bands at the season’s best concerts and festivals… which means it’s time to get ready for short shorts, bikinis & dresses.
In order to get summer ready, there are a few things I like to start doing to help me feel and look fantastic once those beach days roll around. Of course, this starts with feeling great from the inside out. First of all, there’s nothing better than eating healthy to really help you feel great. I’ve taken to preparing healthy recipes, like this amazing chia seed pudding my friend Jenelle introduced me to. It’s so easy to make, is great for you and it tastes fantastic. I’ve also bumped up my fitness routine now that it’s easy to be outdoors by including fun activities. I find that doing things like rollerblading by the lake and playing beach volleyball with friends are both great ways to get in shape while having fun and enjoying the weather.
Now that I’m going to be rocking outfits that show a little more skin, especially where the legs and bikini line are concerned, there’s no way I’m going to be walking around looking like a wooly mammoth – which also means constant hair removal. While shaving is a quick and effective method for getting those silky smooth legs, there’s no way I want to shave every couple of days to keep them that way. The Veet Natural Inspirations Wax Strips are a perfect solution to my problem. They come in the form of wax strips, which are easily warmed up by rubbing them in between your hands before being pulled apart and applied to the areas that need some hair removal (to make things easier, apply a bit of baby powder to the area you’re planning on waxing beforehand – this helps the wax to stick to the hair, not your skin!). The sensitive formula with natural Shea Butter means that skin is left feeling soft afterwards. Plus, wax strips mean no mess to clean up afterwards! As a little bonus, I like to cut these into smaller pieces to use on the bikini line for easy maintenance during bathing suit season. These wax strips also come in a facial version, which are perfect for getting rid of those pesky invisible-to-everyone-but-you (you know you’ve checked this area out in those magnifying mirrors) hairs on the upper lip.
Of course, there are also days when I’m in a hurry or have last minute plans to head out and want a quick and easily solution for getting rid of that unwanted hair, which is where the Veet Natural Inspirations Hair Removal Cream comes into play. It’s so quick and easy to use – all I have to do is apply it to the area where I want to remove the hair (usually my legs), leave it on for three to six minutes, and remove it with the included spatula. For real.
Afterwards, I think it’s really important to keep your skin glowing by exfoliating with a body scrub or by using a glove a few times a week. This will help to flake away any dead skin so you feel smooth and soft and prevents any ingrown hairs that might pop up. Of course, a moisturizing body lotion is also key during the summer, so you can keep those legs looking great while you’re lounging by the pool or checking out the hotties on the beach.
