Colour addict? You’re going to love the new Maybelline New York Color Jolts. I first spotted these backstage at Toronto Fashion Week (RIP) back in the spring and immediately knew that I was going to have to give them a try. Fast forward to a few months later and you can imagine my excitement when a few of them found their way into my mailbox.
These bold lip paints are unbelievably pigmented and completely opaque (they’re said to have 8 times more pigment than the typical gloss), making them ideal for someone who is looking for colour; I’m a big fan of letting the colour of a lip product speak for itself, and I’m really happy to say that these live up to their name. Maybelline has managed to pack a ton of colour into a small package (I wish they were a little bigger as I’m sure I’ll go through them in no time!).
When it comes to formula, I think these find a perfect balance between giving bold, long-lasting colour payoff and a comfortable, wearable feel. The Color Jolts are creamy, with a non-sticky feel that hydrates while you wear, and a hint of shine. I find that I can throw one on before I head out for the day and it will last for a few hours before I have to reapply, with some transfer when I eat or drink.
Although I usually go for the deeper red shades, I have to say I’ve really been loving Stripped Down for the past couple of weeks – it’s a killer nude with just a hint of pink that looks natural and enhances a fresh face.
One of the downsides with this product? Right now, there are only 8 shades available; I’m a really big fan of these and I’m hoping that they continue to expand on the line.
