Ugh. This winter is killingggg me. We’ve been stuck in a cold snap for so long that I don’t remember what 0 degrees feels like anymore. Of course, thanks to the cold, everything is unbelievably dry. My skin is dried out, breaking out and freaking out. My hair doesn’t want to behave. My body is flaky (gross, I know). I am, quite frankly, over winter.
Another big issue that many deal with when the winter weather hits? Cold sores. Not the most glamorous topic, I know, but one that I’m sure affects many of you. This time of year is especially troublesome for cold sore-sufferers as some of the main triggers for them include dry/cracked lips, colds, respiratory problems & fever and cold weather/wind. Not exactly the best season if you want to avoid an outbreak from popping up.
Cold sores are definitely not something that anyone wants to deal with; they’re painful, can be difficult to get rid of, and can be embarrassing/stressful for the person affected by them. Luckily, there’s a new solution that can make dealing with them less of a chore. Lipivir, a non-prescription treatment, recently made its way to Canada and is changing the way sufferers deal with cold sores.
This lip gel was created to help reduce the frequency of cold sores. It uses a mixture of polyethylene glycols that stops cold sore triggers from infecting the area and actually producing a cold sore. It was designed to be applied twice daily (in the morning and before bed) to prevent future outbreaks. Once it’s been applied, you’re also free to wear makeup over top! Just give it 5 minutes to absorb.
