Well, 2019 is officially underway (and I’ve finally stopped writing 2018) so it’s time to chat goals. It may be cliche, but I really do believe that a new year is a perfect time to start fresh. It’s an opportunity to start creating new habits, making little changes and trying new things, even if it’s more mental than anything else. This year I’ve decided to set a few broad goals to help me get going and try harder. These are the 5 goals I’m setting for 2019 to help make it more successful than last year!
Blog more – I figured this one should go to the top of my list as it’s definitely one of my biggest goals this year. Last year, I had a tendency to fall behind and wasn’t completely in love with blogging, but this year I want to really make a point of being more consistent. This means posting more engaging content on here, on Spooning and Forking and filming more videos for my YouTube channel. Planning and collaborations are going to be a big part of this and I’m really excited to see where I can take things this year. I’ve already posted my first YouTube video of 2019 and can’t wait to get more into video content.
Be better – This one kinda goes without saying; in short terms, I just want to try harder in every aspect of my life. This means the blog, trying to grow more professionally, finding new business opportunities, growing my relationships and learning new skills. I really want to spend some time this year working on and growing my skill set, meaning lots of practice, taking on opportunities that come up and finding courses that I can dive into to develop these further. If anyone has recommendations for digital marketing, photography, social media and writing courses that they’ve taken and enjoyed I would love to hear about them!
Read more – Growing up I was an extremely avid reader. I went through books like they were candy, devouring every page and losing myself in the stories. In the past few years, I’ve definitely noticed that I haven’t put enough time into doing this and it’s truly something that I love. Last year I got a library card and started getting back into it and I’ve really enjoyed rediscovering my love of reading. I’ve set up a challenge to myself to read 100 books this year (3 down so far!) and would love to hear about any books that you’ve read recently that you’re a fan of – if it helps, I’m a big fan of chick lit & mysteries.
Take care of myself – As we head into 2019 I see it as a chance to get back on track and to make my health a priority. I started getting more active last year and fell off the wagon towards the end, which is something I want to fix. It’s not so much about getting super fit as it is about feeling good. I’m planning on joining the gym with Jenelle and taking steps to feel healthy – workouts, yoga, meditation and healthier eating habits are going to be a big focus for me. I also want to take better care of my skin and hair, which means a better skincare regimen, staying hydrated, cutting back on heat styling and damage and I’m also planning to try out Nature’s Bounty gummies; I’ve heard really good things about results from a few people I trust now.
Go on more adventures – I’ve always been really excited about travelling, and last year really solidified it for me. I got to check out a few new places, both local and a wee bit further away, which I absolutely loved. This year I want to make a point of discovering new places, near and far, and really pushing myself to get out of my comfort zone.
What are your goals for 2019?
