I have a serious question for you. How could you not instantly drool over a collection that was inspired by Versailles at the heart of winter? The Dior Golden Winter Holiday Collection 2013 is a statement maker, with beautiful gold packaging and rich colour palettes playing off of shades of pink and gold.
“The ultimate refinement of Versailles court art de vivre and the castle’s magnificent adornments deeply influenced Christian Dior’s creations both in aesthetics and structure. Dior was particularly influenced by the golden era of Versailles fashion, which celebrated femininity with its ornate fabrics and structured dresses that enhanced the waist. This holiday, the splendor of Versailles shines on in the Dior makeup collection, which draws inspiration from images of the iconic palace and its gardens covered in snow.”
I think that it’s only fair that I give you an up close look at this gorgeous collection – as always, I’ve fallen immediately in love with it. There are a couple of standouts for me – the 5 Couleurs palette in Golden Snow and the Diorific Vernis & Lipstick in Minuit are my must-haves from this collection. Take a look below for photos and swatches of the entire collection (and forgive the state of my nails – working at a bar is really starting to take its toll on them!).
Dior 5 Couleurs Palettes in Golden Flower and Golden Snow ($61) – Both of these palettes provide warm shades with a ton of shimmer and sheen which are perfect for the holiday season. I personally love the Golden Snow palette – it’s perfect for creating a frosty look that doesn’t make you feel like an ice queen. The more shimmery shades in these palettes didn’t accurately capture the sparkle they give off – these shades are serious show stoppers that need to be seen in person, so please do me a favour and stop by your nearest Dior counter to take a look.
Diorific Lipstick in Diva, Winter and Minuit ($40) – First, can I just say omg you guys – these golden tubes of lipstick are totally calling my name? Seriously, I can’t wait to pull these bad boys out of my purse when I’m at an event or holiday party because they are so lustworthy. Anyways, this holiday season Dior is offering 3 lipstick shades to tickle your fancy – a bright red, a darker red shade and one with a hint of pink (my lipstick of choice) and the formulas are smooth and creamy, with lots of colour and a hint of shine.
Dior Addict Gloss in Enchanted Rose and Pink Fantasy ($31) – Sheer glosses with a hint of colour are right up there in my (long) list of beauty obsessions and these definitely fit the bill. I love the almost jelly look that Pink Fantasy gives off – it comes out a little more sheer than it looks in the bottle for a beautiful pink blush shade. Non sticky and long lasting, these glosses give off beautiful shine.
Diorific Vernis in Frimas, Marilyn and Minuit ($27) – These elegant bottles house 3 new shades of Dior Vernis. I love the variety in the shades – they still fit into the holiday theme but offer nice choices to suit everyone. I adore Minuit – this sexy, vampy shade with tiny flecks of gold is stunning and looks fantastic with a gold accent (I currently have a gold lace overlay). I really love the jelly finish of Marilyn, and I don’t think I’m alone in my love for anything dedicated to the iconic beauty.
Diorific Jewel Manicure Duo ($40) – And of course, no holiday collection is complete with a signature special addition. This collection features this fantastic jewel manicure duo, comprised of a gold base and crystal pearls to help really bring the manicure to life.
