Do I ever have a treat for you today; and by that, I mean a full look at the (almost entire – a couple of pieces are missing) Dior Skyline Fall 2016 collection. And, as per usual, it’s breathtaking. After taking a look through it (you do not want to skip the 5 Couleurs palettes), I’m quite certain that you’ll agree with me.
“I dreamt of being an architect… As a couturier, I have to respect the principles of architecture.” – Christian Dior
Based around the autumnal colours of Paris and drawing inspiration from the architecture of the Eiffel Tower, the large collection is full of elegance and femininity.
Where else could I start? The new 5 Couleurs palettes in Parisian Sky & Capital of Light are hands down the centerpiece of this collection. Between the intricate, Eiffel Tower-inspired detailing and gorgeous, warm colour combinations, these quints are absolute showstoppers. I’ll let the swatches speak for themselves – the amazing colour payoff & soft formula shine here.
The Skyline collection definitely has a big focus on bright, glowing skin (as you will continue to see with a few other pieces), and this stunning Diorskin Nude Air Luminizer is the perfect place to start. The universal shade is full of soft shimmer for a gorgeous glow – start off with light touches and build from there. It also pairs really well with the next product…
The limited edition Diorblush Light & Contour Sculpting Stick Duos take the guesswork out of finding the perfect complementary shades to highlight and contour your face. The dual ended sticks bring together a lighter cream shade for strobing (apply to the forehead, brow bones, cheekbones, bridge of nose, cupid’s bow, tip of chin and along the jaw line) and a deeper tan for contouring (apply to the sides of forehead and nose, hollows of cheeks and jawline), which can be applied to the face using lines or dots, then blended out with a damp sponge or brush.
Lips take a deeper turn with 6 new Dior Addict Lipsticks (not pictured are 178 Urban & 316 Incognito). The smooth lipsticks add shades of red, coppery brown and a deep plum to the lineup. While they don’t give a ton of colour, they add a nice hue to the lips and finish off with a smooth sheen.
Continuing with the lips, we have the Dior Addict Lip Glow in Lilac (not a new shade) and the new Dior Lip Pomade in Universal Pink, an oil-gel balm that plays off of the Lip Glows colour reviving action to moisturize, hydrate and refresh the lips. The formula is light and really comfortable, leaving the lips looking healthy.
Of course, a new Dior collection means new Dior Vernis shades – this time, following the elegant theme, the shades are simple and sophisticated, with a creamy nude and a chocolate polish being added.
The new Diorshow Brow Chalk (in 001 Blonde, 002 Soft Brown & 003 Dark Brown – pictured above) has a soft, powdery texture in pencil format, making application and blending easy – perfect for someone who wants to quickly and easily fill and define their brows without a ton of work. Two new shades of Diorshow Pro Liner are also added – Pro Grege Pro Plum (not pictured above). I’ll be honest with you, this liner isn’t my favourite, and is one of the missteps for me personally. I’m not a big fan of the application (it’s a little difficult to apply smoothly) and colour payoff isn’t the best. Has anyone else had better luck with this?
And no, we’re not done there. As I mentioned previously, this collection has a focus on healthy, glowing skin, which leads us to the new Dior Fix It Colour 2-in-1 Prime & Colour Correct. These colour correcting sticks were designed to blur the skin texture and correct skin imperfections and colour irregularities. These sticks are available in four shades, each created to target a specific skin concern:
- 100 Blue (not pictured) gives a boost to tired, sallow skin
- 200 Apricot reduces dark spots and olive-toned circles, ideal for darker skin
- 300 Yellow reduces purple-toned dark spots and discoloration, ideal for lighter skin’
- 400 Green helps to neutralize redness
And, finally, we come to the new Dior Flash Luminizer Radiance Boosting Pens. With a quick click, product is dispersed through the brush tip for easy application. These creamy luminizers can be used to conceal, illuminate the face and define the lip contour – quickly swipe across areas of the face to highlight, then blend in using a sponge or brush!
