Hands up if you’re a Blue Jays fan! Whether they’re winning or losing, it’s always fun to head to Toronto to take in a game. I got my first game of the season in during their home opener weekend and it was definitely a bit of a different experience for me. Why you might ask? Well, this particular game I happened to watch from the comfort of my field view hotel room at the Toronto Marriott City Centre.
Everything about the experience was incredible. We had an amazing view of the entire field right from our room (the window is actually right beside the Jumbotron!) and I couldn’t believe how cool it was. The windows open at the top so that you can hear everything and still be part of the action, and the view was incomparable. This would be such a fun experience for a birthday, a group of friends or a fam jam and I would definitely do it again.
I loved how comfortable we felt the entire time. We were able to bring in our own snacks and drinks and even ordered pizza up to the room for dinner – everyone gets exactly what they want and are happy AND there’s no waiting in line for the bathroom or a beer!
The Sportsnet Grill is also conveniently located in the Marriott City Centre lobby, making it the perfect place to stop by for a drink, dinner or breakfast in the morning.
I also loved being able to see everything that goes on behind the scenes once the game ends. The Rogers Centre is cleaned up and the ground crew immediately gets to work to clean the field up and get it ready for the next time the Jays take the field (in this case the next day).
Oh, and how amazing is it that you can just fall into bed once the game is over? We actually wore our PJs for the last few innings and being able to crawl into bed, watch a little Netflix and relax after the game was so nice. Usually, after a game, I have a trip to Union Station and a train home before I can even think about doing this.
