Another year, another round of beauty products that I fell in love with. This past year for me was more about fresh skin and trying to stick to the lighter side of makeup for the most part. I discovered a slew of products that I adored – some new launches, some older, but all of these were new to me this year. Take a look at my favourite beauty products of 2019 and let me know what yours were in the comments below. I’m always looking for something new to try!
Indeed Labs Squalane Facial Oil (available at Shoppers Drug Mart) – I’ve heard fellow bloggers rave about this stuff for a couple of years now and I finally decided that it was time to give it a try. I’m glad I did because it quickly became one of my favourite beauty products of 2019. This facial oil feels lightweight but still packs a strong dose of hydration that lasts all day. I love mixing a few drops of this into my foundation so that my skin stays glowing and doesn’t get cakey in the winter.
it Cosmetics Confidence in a Cream – A product that I used in tandem with the Indeed Labs Squalane Facial Oil, this cream is such a luxury that I can’t get enough of (I just finished off a jar!). It’s rich, it’s creamy, and it saves my skin during the cold, dry months. the combination of ceramides, peptides and hyaluronic acid included in it means bright & healthy-looking skin is in store.
Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation – Rihanna’s Fenty Beauty just keeps knocking it out of the park with their products; I believe this is the 4th or 5th now that I’ve fallen in love with. I’ve heard that this one doesn’t work well for those with dry skin, so if you’re planning on giving it a try make sure that your skin is nice and hydrated (and don’t let it sit too long before applying!). This gives me medium to full coverage (buildable) depending on what I want. I actually do often use a couple of drops of facial oil mixed in with this which has helped me avoid some of the concerns I’ve heard others have with this. I will definitely be repurchasing this when it runs out! (Oh, and in a fun side note, Rihanna has just announced that they’ll be launching the Full Frontal Volume, Lift & Curl Mascara on the 16th and you know I’ll be getting my paws on it). And in case anyone is curious, I wear shade 150.
Revlon Salon One-Step Hair Dryer & Volumizer – I’m seriously obsessed with this and have basically ditched my normal hair dryer for it. I’m the kind of gal who can’t give myself a blow out to save my life and this little beauty has definitely come to the rescue. It dries my hair to a perfectly styled finish in about 10 minutes and leaves it looking nice and smooth. I run a little Moroccanoil through my strands afterwards to tame any frizz that might pop up and to add a little more shine. I also find that curling my hair afterwards results in sleek waves which I love. I do wish that there were more options for heat settings, but overall this one is a total win for me.
Too Faced Damn Girl! 24-Hour Mascara – I know that this one is going to be a divisive pick but what works me isn’t going to work for everyone! I’ve heard very mixed reviews about this mascara, mainly to do with the large brush size (it can be tricky to use, especially if you have hooded eyes), but I honestly adored this mascara and will be buying it again. Application for me is nice and easy and it gives my lashes incredible length and volume with an almost false lash look. If you’re thinking about giving this a try I suggest getting a deluxe sample size first to make sure that it works for you. Hopefully you’ll have the same results that made this one of my favourite beauty products of 2019. Psssssst… Canadian pals, Too Faced is now available at Shoppers Drug Mart!
