Since we’ve got a lot more time on our hands than usual, we figured now is as good a time as any to work on our at-home bartender skills and share some cocktail recipes with you so you can practice, learn some new drinks and impress the heck outta your friends when we’re all able to get together again. We’ll be sharing some classic cocktail recipes to give you some base knowledge, a few drinks we’ve come up with and twists on those classics to shake things up a little bit. We’re kicking things off with this Cinnamon Whisky Sour Cocktail Recipe – refreshing and impressive looking, this is definitely one you’ll want to make for your friends.
This Cinnamon Whiskey Sour is easy to make and has a fresh, bright flavour thanks to the lemon juice. I’m personally partial to any cocktail made with egg white which makes sours one of my favourite types of cocktail.
Want to make it a traditional whiskey sour? Make your simple syrup as normal – just omit the cinnamon stick while you’re making it. Feel free to get creative with flavours as well; try infusing different flavours into your syrup to change the flavour profile of the drink.
What are you waiting for? Get cracking and try this Cinnamon Whiskey Sour out. Up next, we’ll be getting into Boulevardiers, a classic that you should have in your repertoire for your fellow whisky drinkers.
Cinnamon Whiskey Sour Cocktail Recipe
Ingredients
- 1/2 Oz Cinnamon Simple Syrup (recipe below – 1 cup water, 1 cup white sugar, 1 cinnamon stick)
- 2 Oz Whisky (we used Wayne Gretzky Red Cask Premium Whisky)
- 3/4 Oz Fresh Lemon Juice
- 1 Egg White
- Dillon's Pear Bitters
Instructions
- Start off by making your simple syrup. In a saucepan combine sugar, water and cinnamon stick. Bring to a boil, stirring until all sugar has dissolved. Carefully remove cinnamon stick and leave to cool.
- Add whisky, lemon juice, 1/2 oz of cinnamon syrup and egg white to a shaker tin filled with ice. Shake, vigorously, until very cold. Seriously, shake the hell outta this cocktail so that the egg whites emulsify.
- Pour cocktail through a strainer into a chilled glass. Add a few dashed of bitters on top (feel free to make 'em pretty), garnish with an orange peel and serve. Or enjoy.
